R language

R is a free programming language built for statistics, number crunching, and charts. Data analysts and researchers use it to find patterns in large sets of numbers. Most small teams never need to write R themselves, because a spreadsheet or a report built on their sales data answers their questions. We work with a four-person fashion boutique where the owner counted sell-through by hand each Sunday to decide reorders. We built a report from Square sales that lists what sold, what sits, and suggested reorders, so the Sunday stocktake is gone. The buying decisions stay with the owner. R is worth knowing about if you have a lot of data and a hard question, but it takes real skill to use well, and a wrong model gives confident wrong answers.
