A smart building is a space where lights, heating, cooling, and door access are connected and run on their own, based on time, sensors, or who's booked in. The big versions are office towers with thousands of sensors, but the small-team version is much simpler. A day spa can have the heating come on before the first booking. A wedding venue can switch the lights in an empty room off after the last guest leaves. A studio can let a cleaner in with a code that only works on Tuesdays. These are small, connected devices (the industry calls this the internet of things), and most plug into an app on your phone. They still need someone to check the settings when your hours change, or they'll keep heating a room nobody's using.
