Process technology is the set of tools and methods a business uses to turn raw inputs into a finished product or service. In factories, that means machines and production lines. In a small team, it's the apps and steps behind each job, like the till, the booking system, the shared drive, and the spreadsheet. We work with a six-person cafe with a catering arm, where catering orders came by email, phone, and form and were copied onto a whiteboard. Now the orders land in one sheet with a daily prep list, and there were no missed orders in the first two months. Phone orders are still typed in by staff, because a phone call doesn't arrive as neat text. Better process technology means fewer handovers between tools, not more tools.
